Kidookid We test it .. you try it© report for Baby Danse nestled
up on the hills just outside of Cagnes Sur Mer and St Paul /Vence is
a wonderful find. The Association Baby Danse was set up and is presided
over by Brigitte Snyder ...a new concept to the Cote d'Azur and much
needed - we took up the "Decouverte de ses sens" class from
10 months old when we were able to sit and crawl but not yet walking.
Suitable from 8 months up to around 2 years this small class of around
5 classmates uses movement and music to awaken the senses and provide
mum and babe with some truly quality time together.
Our
typical session was to park the car in the free parking, marvel at the
views and chat to the noisy geese, nod bonjour to the pony and proceed
to class. With the senses buzzing already we arrive in class to complete
a circuit that would change every couple of weeks allowing the tots
time to understand what needs to be completed, follow an order, building
up confidence and develop in ability.
A
typical circuit may involve crawling through a tunnel, pass through
the musical chime tent, climb over the hurdle, under a rope, bounce
on the trampette, balance along a beam, discover the patterned texture
board and that is just the first 5 minutes.
Then
different ateliers each week from footprint painting to musical jamming
sessions, water play to hiding under chiffon scarves. Linking each activity
to a different musical track means that after a while the babes anticipate
what is coming next .. standing up to express themselves with cotton
shakers or getting down under the parachute for peek a boo and ball
play. On occasion we would meet some of Brigitte's "extended family"
from the little chicks to goldfish - what a treat!
Finally
out come the hand puppets and the nursery rhyme indicating its time
to go home for lunch and a well deserved "do-do".
