Why Trampolining is good for you

education

Hopping and jumping are completely normal for children. It keeps them amused and healthy. They can do it all day long and not look silly …Adults on the other hand usually have little opportunity to move in this way and if they do, they look a little out of place!

So how to get an adult jumping ? Well get a trampoline .. not only will they get a great body work out but also they will not look out of place.

Did you know that you can purchase Trampolines from Jumpmax:

Health benefits of trampolining

Trampolining promotes muscle co-ordination, a sense of balance and stability in the body. Bouncing creates a pump effect, which positively affects muscles, bone density and metabolism. Specialists also recommend running on a Trampoline to aid in the prevention of Thrombosis.

The fast exchange between freedom/relaxation and exertion affects the metabolism. When taking off the body is relaxed, the joints and muscles relax as they become weightless. When landing the muscles become taught again.
With the soft landing providing a cushioned landing - Trampolining is more effective and better for your body than jogging on hard ground.

A NASA study back in the eighties showed that Trampolining is 3 times more effective than jogging. Ten minutes of bouncing results in the same results as thirty minutes of running. Scientists tested body acceleration, oxygen levels and heart beats. They determined: The relationship between oxygen levels and peak acceleration is Trampolining is 68% more effective than jogging.
Another advantage: Jogging and running on the ground have a negative effect on the back whereas trampolining or running on a trampoline is supposed to strengthen the back.
N.B. Back sufferers and those who have any kind of physical ailment or pregnant mums etc must check with a medical professional before going jumping.

Jumping for Kids

There has been a recent explosion of trampolines in the back garden – and Kidookid has tried this out for you!
We bought a 12’ trampoline with a safety enclosure made of netting that stops the children bouncing off. We have a little ladder specially made for trampolines and we also partially sunk the trampoline into the ground so that is doesn’t over impose and if ever they were to bounce through the “wall” the ground is not so far away!

We have Golden Rules in our Kidookid household:

  • No more than 3 little children on the trampoline at any one time (it’s advisable that as they get bigger you limit this down to one)
  • No somersaults
  • No Jumping into each other or the “walls”
  • No shoes, jewellery, batman capes!

Do you have any more RULES? If so share them on the forum!

Tips for New Jumpers

  1. At the beginning take it easy with small jumps .. you don’t want to bounce right off! Keep your knees bent and your body soft.
  2. Keep your early sessions to under 10 minutes.
  3. Alternating between jumping, exercises to develop stability etc. You can increase the intensity, duration and complexity later .
  4. Jump in the centre on the cross. Keeping your body well centred and balanced.
  5. After the end of training, spend 1-2 minutes doing gentler activities to warm down before coming to a final stop.

Happy Safe Bouncing!
