CHILDREN ACTIVITIES on the COTE d'AZUR
Having had my children in the UK I was lucky enough to have all sorts of activities to hand ..every corner and every road seemed to have some kind of activity for pre-schoolers and young kids.
From Music to Martial Arts, Tumble Tots to Tai-Kwan do, whatever your child's disposition, needs and wants there is something to do..
So you may ask what is there here to keep your little one since arriving in the South of France well Kidookid has been out testing various classes and activities and is also hoping that other parents will do the same and report on what is what on the Cote d'Azur.
In a series focussing on activities for the younger market, Kidookid focuses this month on the benefits of music for pre-schoolers.
Music - Introducing your child at an early age to music gives them a taste for sounds instruments and music .. Kids love noise and making it is part of the fun ! Pre-school music classes are a great bonding moment for parent and child and you can help your child on the path to learning some valuable skills.
A well structured music class will allow your kid to make loads of noise, teach them about rhythm and pitch, help with socialisation and is a gentle way to understand the rules of a class. Most sessions include dancing, clapping, percussion instruments and action songs which will enhance concentration, co-ordination and memory skills.
There have been many articles on the links between music and the child's mathematical and spatial reasoning abilities which is why the good classes will combine music, counting and singing. You may have noticed, that when your child has mastered and performed their masterpiece they bloom like a flower and their self-esteem rises..read the Guardian - Observer latest report
The class will be adapted according to the age of your child from babies wriggling toes and fingers to pre-schoolers identifying the musical instruments.
Listening is key, a skill that will stand them in good stead for school and at home and they will also learn about loud and soft voices. What a great start you are giving your child.
Having been lucky enough to test and try out many different classes both in the UK and France, Kidookid is firmly in the camp that these classes are of a huge benefit to child and parent.
